Refinement
Monika Immrová graduated from the studio of Jindřich Zeithamml. She is one of the most outstanding sculptors of her generation. As a native of Louny, she has a strong affinity for abstract form. On the other hand, as a person close to nature, she does not avoid the intersection of geometry and organic form. This bipolar identity of her concrete objects and reliefs carries something of the aesthetics of furnishing interplanetary vessels and historical industries at the same time. She has elevated concrete to a sculptural material par excellence. She works with it as often as with another unconventional material – cardboard. These kind of purely technical commodities are her support in her search for an exempt and strictly formulated spatial concept. Her domain was and is sculpture, but in recent years she has also been working intensively in graphic art, for which she received the Graphic Artist of the Year award.
